🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival in Luxembourg: unhurried panoramas

  • 🚊 From Findel Airport it’s easy to get to the city by tram (line T1) or buses 6/16/29 — public transport is free throughout the country. Check in, then a walk: the Pfaffenthal glass elevator takes you up to the Upper City with wide views over the Alzette valley — an ideal gentle start after the journey and a chance to tell kids how a “city is built on cliffs.”

Day 2 — Luxembourg: Natur Musée + Pfaffenthal elevator and the Bock Casemates

  • 🦴 The National Museum of Natural History (Natur Musée) is a “living” museum with aquariums, herbariums, skeletons, minerals, and temporary interactive zones. School-age kids like “untangling” evolution; little ones love watching fish and insects through magnifying glasses. Then — the Pfaffenthal elevator (free, 71 m high) and a short walk along the UNESCO walls. If the kids are up for an adventure — go down into the Bock Casemates: underground passages, embrasures, and “secret” stairways beneath the city. Plan a 60–90 minute loop with snack breaks.

Day 3 — Luxembourg: tram and bus museum + city park

  • 🚋 Musée des Tramways et des Bus is a rare find for kids: real retro trams and buses, models, conductors’ uniforms, and posters. It’s easy to explain “how a city moves” and why the modern tram came back. Afterward — a big playground in the city park (Pétrusse/Ville-Haute), ice cream, and an early dinner.

Day 4 — Heading north: Hosingen Park + a water day at AquaNat’Our

  • 🚆 Luxembourg → Clervaux (CFL train, line 10) → bus to Hosingen. With a transfer, the trip takes 1 h 45 m–2 h 15 m, and part of it is scenic: green valleys, viaducts. Check in up north and go straight to AquaNat’Our: kids’ pools, slides, a paddling pool, warm zones for parents. A “spillover” day formula after travel: water → afternoon snack → warm shower → early bedtime.

Day 5 — Hosingen Park and surroundings: crafts, animals, and carts at Robbesscheier

  • 🌿 The Robbesscheier center (Munshausen) is 6 hectares of “Ardennes” experience: farm animals, wood and wax workshops, a garden, donkey carts, and games in the meadow. It works great as a “grounding” day after the water: lots of hands-on activities, you can touch, feed, and make things yourself. Bring spare socks and some money for small handmade souvenir crafts.

Day 6 — North (Éislek): a museum day with dioramas and tanks

  • 🛡️ The National Museum of Military History (Diekirch) presents history through large dioramas: daily life, equipment, “winter 1944/45.” Older kids enjoy the bridge-crossing models and real vehicles; with little ones, limit the time and switch to a walk along the Sûre river embankment. In the evening — a calm playground by the hotel.

Day 7 — Vianden: castle + chairlift

  • 🏰 Vianden is like an illustration from knightly books: the climb to the castle, halls with reconstructions, and “postcard-perfect views.” Then — the country’s only chairlift: you float above the Our valley, looking at the old town and forest. Day rhythm: castle (1.5–2 h) → lunch → chairlift and a trail down through the forest (weather permitting).

Day 8 — Echternach (Mullerthal): lake, trampolines, and climbing wall

  • 🏞️ Move east and an “active home base”: at the sports youth center by Lake Echternach there’s an indoor trampoline area, a climbing wall, a gym, and rentals. After that — a loop by the water, feeding ducks, relaxing on the grass. In the evening — board games, a warm shower, a calm bedtime story.

Day 9 — Mullerthal: “Little Switzerland” in mini loops

  • 🪨 Fairy-tale rock corridors and tree roots — but all in kid-friendly little loops of 2–4 km. Choose one or two short routes near Echternach, add the big Adventure Playground, and pack hot tea and bread with cheese for a picnic: kids in Mullerthal get hungry quickly from all the scrambling.

Day 10 — Moselle Valley: Biodiversum Camille Gira Center

  • 🦆 Trip to the Haff Réimech wetlands (Remerschen): an egg-shaped museum on an island, interactive exhibits about ecosystems, boardwalk trails for birdwatching. For kids — a “hunt” for silhouettes of herons and ducks; for parents — a rare balance of “peaceful and educational.” Return to your base in Echternach.

Day 11 — South (Red Rock): Escher Déierepark and an overnight in the park

  • 🦌 Head south to Esch-sur-Alzette: the free Escher Déierepark zoo on the Galgenberg hill, big playgrounds, shaded trails. If you want a “wow” — stay at The Seven Hotel right in the park or at a nearby hotel; in the evening: forest, a carousel of sensations, and an early dinner.

Day 12 — Rope park Parc Le’h (Dudelange): a day of heights

  • 🧗 Parc Le’h Adventures: more than 100 obstacles and 7 courses, including kids’ ones, continuous safety line, ziplines and “Tarzan swings”. Family tactics: 1) arrive at opening, 2) start with the easy courses, 3) mandatory lunch/break in the shade, 4) second half of the day — repeat the favorites. Gloves and thin athletic pants are a must.

Day 13 — Steam trains at Minett Park Fond-de-Gras

  • 🚂 An open-air museum of industrial heritage and retro trains: “Train 1900” and the mine train Minièresbunn. For kids it’s living history: noise, smells, tunnels. Keep the pace relaxed: one steam engine + one short themed area, photo stops and ice cream.

Day 14 — Rope park Steinfort Adventure + departure

  • 🌲 Final chord — another rope park, but in a different landscape: 9–10 courses for all levels; at the bottom, a free “little wolf cub” for the very youngest. After 2–3 hours of activities — lunch and head to the airport/city. For the road — stickers/badges “I completed the course!” — a great motivator.
