🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Arrival in Nuremberg and getting to know the old town

  • 🚇 From Albrecht Dürer Airport to the center, the easiest way is the U-Bahn: line U2 goes straight to Hauptbahnhof in ~12–13 minutes. A taxi from the airport to the center is ~15–20 minutes in normal traffic. Check in and take a walk around the main square with its fountains, see the fortress, and let the kids “warm up” at the nearby playgrounds. In the evening — an early dinner and an early night after the journey.

Day 2 — Spielzeugmuseum: a city of toys and history in miniature

  • 🧸 Spielzeugmuseum (Karlstraße 13–15) is an iconic toy museum: from wooden and tin toys to dolls and mini cities. Kids love “spotting details” in the little houses and comparing old and new versions of toys. Plan: 1.5–2.5 hours in the museum, then ice cream/a snack at Hauptmarkt and a short free-play break — that helps the impressions “sink in.”

Day 3 — Trains and communication: DB Museum + Museum für Kommunikation

  • 🚂 DB Museum (Lessingstraße 6) is Germany’s main railway museum. For kids there’s KIBALA (Kinder-Bahnland): mini stations, real locomotives, interactive points, and an indoor snack area. Allow 2.5–3.5 hours.

  • 📡 In the same complex is the Museum für Kommunikation: from mail and telephony to digital media in a “touch and try” format. It’s a natural “second half” of the day at an unhurried pace.

Day 4 — Tiergarten Nürnberg: a zoo in a forest landscape

  • 🦒 A large zoo (Am Tiergarten 30) with scenic paths, a dolphin lagoon, a cable car over the enclosures, and the Bionicum exhibit. “Forest day” tactic: short loops of 60–90 minutes, breaks for snacks and playgrounds, minimal “racing” between pavilions.

Day 5 — Planetarium + Wöhrder Wiese (experience playgrounds in summer)

  • 🌌 Nicolaus Copernicus Planetarium (Am Plärrer 41): family astronomy shows, planetarium seating, and programs for different ages. Plan 60–90 minutes.

  • 👣 In the warm season, add the “Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne” at Wöhrder Wiese — dozens of interactive outdoor sensory stations: water, sound, balance, optics. Great for shaking off “museum fatigue” and letting kids breathe out through play.

Day 6 — PLAYMOBIL FunPark (Zirndorf): a world of story play in XXL

  • 🏰 Huge outdoor PLAYMOBIL play zones: a pirate ship, castles, jungle, dino park, rope areas, water play areas (in summer). These aren’t “speed rides,” but immersive play and climbing spaces — ideal for 4–7 hours with breaks. Pro tip: come at opening time, bring a change of clothes/sandals for the water zones.

  • 🚌 Logistics: from Nuremberg, convenient VGN connections are train/subway to Fürth or Zirndorf + bus 151, which runs to the park on weekdays and Sat. (check the current timetable). Travel time is usually 35–50 minutes one way with a transfer.

Day 7 — Zirndorf at an easy pace: repeat FunPark or the “dream shop”

  • 🧩 A second, more “light” visit to FunPark — revisit favorite zones and play calmly on the playgrounds while adults have coffee. If the kids are tired of the park, limit it to the signature FunPark Shop and a walk around Zirndorf (cozy cafés, quiet pace).

Day 8 — Water relaxation: Kristall Palm Beach (Stein)

  • 💦 A large family water park with a wave pool and slides (including “gentle” ones for toddlers). Sauna and thermal pools — for parents in turns. Getting there from central Nuremberg on VGN buses (e.g., toward Stein Palm Beach) usually takes 30–45 minutes; by car ~20–30 minutes.

Day 9 — Indoors: Tucherland (dedicated zones for burning energy)

  • 🤸 Tucherland (Marienbergstraße 102) is the largest indoor park in the region: trampolines, climbing walls, “soft” zones for toddlers, wave slides. A great “under-roof” day, especially if the weather is “moody.”

Day 10 — Fürth: waves and warm water at Fürthermare

  • 🏊 Fürthermare (Scherbsgraben 15) — family pools, a “lazy river,” kids’ areas. Easy to reach: from Nuremberg take U1 to “Stadthalle” + a 5-minute walk, or the short bus 172. Plan 2–4 hours and an early dinner on the way home.

Day 11 — Schloss Thurn (Heroldsbach): a park in the castle grounds

  • 🎠 A small family park in a historic setting: “no overload” rides, mini trains, shows, and animal encounters. About 40–50 minutes by car from Nuremberg; by public transport—via Forchheim (check VGN/DB timetables).

Day 12 — AirTime Trampoline Park + a family movie/game night

  • 🛝 AirTime (Klingenhofstraße 70) — trampoline and ropes halls, MiniJumper areas for ages 2–5 in separate time slots. A good “short active break” for 1.5–2 hours. In the evening—board games at the hotel or a mini “home cinema” with popcorn: a reset before the final push.

Day 13 — Favorite places again: the child’s choice

  • 🔁 The power of kids’ travel is in repetition. Let your child choose 1–2 “absolute favorites” (trains at KIBALA, the mini city at the Spielzeugmuseum, or the play zone at FunPark). Plan souvenirs (mini figures, trains, postcards) and postcards “from the toy city” to send home.

Day 14 — A calm morning, packing, and departure

  • 🧳 Check your things, one last city breakfast. To the airport—U2 from the center ~12–13 minutes; taxi ~15–20 minutes. Leave an extra 30–40 minutes for kids’ “need the toilet/water/one more photo”—a stress-free finish.
