🧭 DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 — Kaleiçi: first steps beyond the Roman gate

  • 🚶 Start at Hadrian’s Gate (Üçkapılar) — a white-marble triple arch (130 CE) that still serves as a “portal” into the Old Town. Walk to the square with the Yivli Minaret (Yivli Minare) — the Seljuk fluted tower is easy to recognize and sets the vertical axis of the entire historic center. Then weave through narrow cobblestone lanes with Ottoman houses: bright shutters, grapevines over awnings, carved doors. Come out to the sea-view terraces and end the day at one of the garden restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean.

Day 2 — The Old Port and a boat walk

  • 🚶 Walk down the stairs to Yat Limanı — the old harbor set in a natural half-amphitheater of cliffs. In the morning the port is especially beautiful: boats bob in the shade of pines, and stone walls drop to turquoise water. Take a short boat tour (1–2 hours) to the mouth of the Lower Düden Waterfall — the view of the water “curtain” from the sea is especially impressive. Afterwards, have coffee on a terrace by Mermerli Beach and a relaxed stroll along the Old Port promenade.

Day 3 — Karaalioğlu Park and Hıdırlık Tower

  • 🚶 Karaalioğlu Park is a green balcony above the sea with walking alleys and views over the bay. On the southern edge stands the Roman Hıdırlık Tower (2nd century): a warm-stone cylinder at the junction of the city and sea walls. By day, read Antalya’s stone “biography” among cypresses; in the evening, catch the sunset—cliffs, yachts, the distant Beydağları mountains—an ideal end to the day.

Day 4 — Suna & İnan Kıraç Museum and craft streets

  • 🚶 Dive into the intimate world of the Suna–İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum: ethnographic rooms in a restored mansion, a courtyard, and the neighboring Aya Georgi church with a collection of Çanakkale tiles. Then wander the surrounding quarters: workshops, antique shops, doors with brass knockers. It’s a lovely place to “get stuck” on small details: a kaftan in a window, an old samovar, the shadow of an orange tree on a wall.

Day 5 — Toys and the sea: museum and biology

  • 🚶 Down by the harbor is the Antalya Toy Museum: display cases with European and Turkish toys from the 1860s–1980s, a bit of nostalgia and lighthearted joy. Nearby in the marina is a small Marine Biology Museum with exhibits of Mediterranean species: corals, crustaceans, fish. Then a slow lunch with a view of the yachts.

Day 6 — The nostalgic tram line and Işıklar Street

  • 🚶 Take a ride on the “nostalji” tram T2: Müze — Cumhuriyet Meydanı — Kale Kapısı — Üç Kapılar — Işıklar. It’s not about speed, but about the city’s rhythm: shop windows, stone walls, city views through wide windows. Walk along Işıklar to the plane-tree boulevard and return to the Old Town on foot.

Day 7 — “Green day”: garden shade and a midday nap

  • 🚶 Plan a “slow” day in the shade: inner garden courtyards of Ottoman houses, tea under a pomegranate tree, short dashes between spice and textile shops. It’s useful to wait out the heat at home/in your hotel: Kaleiçi is made for a “siesta” and evening life.

Day 8 — Antalya beyond the walls: aquarium and Konyaaltı Beach

  • 🚶 Head into “greater Antalya”: by tram/bus to the huge Antalya Aquarium (tunnel hall, themed sections). Then spend an hour on the pebble Konyaaltı Beach (evening breeze, mountain skyline), returning to Kaleiçi for sunset.

Day 9 — Roman sights nearby: Perge + Aspendos (day trip)

  • 🚗 A historical day out: Perge (colonnaded streets, baths, agora) + Aspendos (one of the best-preserved Roman theaters). Plan on 45–60 minutes to Perge and another ~30 minutes to Aspendos. Return to Kaleiçi by dinner.

Day 10 — Waterfalls and Lara terraces

  • 🚶 In the morning, visit Lower Düden—where the river plunges straight from the cliffs into the sea. View it from above in the park, or alternatively from a boat (you already did on Day 2, but the shoreline angle is different). Then take a walk along the Lara terraces and back to the Old Town.

Day 11 — Mountain fortress: Termessos (alternative: city relaxation)

  • 🚗 For those who love trails: the ancient mountain fortress-city of Termessos (panoramas, the silence of pine forest, a “theater in the sky”). Plan 1 hour for the drive plus the hike up the trail. If you don’t feel like going out of town, keep the day for unhurried Kaleiçi life: cafés, books, conversations.

Day 12 — Mosques and minarets of Kaleiçi

  • 🚶 Do a “minaret loop”: Yivli Minare (photos and the mosque courtyard), Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque by the Clock Tower, and the “Broken Minaret” (Kesik Minare)—traces of changing eras. In the evening, have tea by the city walls.

Day 13 — Small museums and souvenirs, unhurried

  • 🚶 Catch up on intimate spaces: revisit a favorite museum/courtyard, pick out souvenirs from artisans (copper, ceramics, textiles). Kaleiçi is about details, not “checkmarks.”

Day 14 — Finale by the sea: Hıdırlık Tower, the port, and sunset

  • 🚶 Take one last loop: Hadrian’s Gate → streets → the panorama by Hıdırlık Tower → down to the port. Sunset—on the edge of the park or by the water. Dinner—wherever felt best.
